The 25-digit key is 5 groups of 5 alpha/numeric characters. The Key might be available from the system: If the system is working in either safe or normal as my product number will not be accepted. Now every time I try to get into Publisher I get a screen that asks for the product key. When I type in the product key on the back of the CD package where it says "Product Key" on a yellow sticker, I get a message that the Key is not valid and to check the Product Key on the aforementioned sticker.

When I use the Dell provided reinstallation CD, I get prompted for a Product Key, which I enter, but I get an error message saying the the code is invalid. Normally on a Dell you do not need to enter the Product Key when installing Windows? Is the motherboard original? Any other changes? Are you using the correct Product Key? The key should be on a sticker affixed to the computer. Look very closely. Sometimes 0-O, I-1, G-6, S-5 and others look alike.
